Breast Revision Surgery and Revision Mammoplasty in New York
Breast enhancement surgeries are among the most popular cosmetic procedures in the world today. At the same time, an increasing number of women are electing to have breast reconstruction surgery after cancer treatment. With millions of women having breast enhancement or reconstruction surgery in the past 20 years, it’s not surprising that there are some women who, for one reason or another, are not satisfied with the results of their initial breast surgery. In some cases, aging may have brought about physical changes in the body that have made breast implants more visible. In other instances, women may want to exchange breast implants to change the size or type of implant. It’s possible that scar tissue has developed around the implant, or that the implant was poorly positioned from the outset. Whatever the reason, revision breast surgery can correct imperfections and give you the results that you want and deserve.
Unfortunately, many women are told that the results from their initial breast surgery cannot be improved upon, and that they should live with their disappointment. The truth is, there are many excellent revision breast surgery options that can achieve outstanding results. In most cases, whether you had your original surgery recently or years ago, Dr. Levine can use a variety of advanced breast revision techniques to improve the appearance of your breasts, including surgical repositioning, implant exchange, fat grafting, skin tightening, and breast lifting. Often a combination of techniques will provide substantial results.* Breast revision surgery can be used to correct deficiencies with any type of previous breast procedure, including breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, and breast reconstruction.WHAT CAN REVISION BREAST SURGERY DO FOR ME?* |

How can I prepare for revision breast surgery?
During your initial consultation, Dr. Levine will examine your breasts to determine their physical condition, the thickness and quality of the skin, and the type of corrections needed. He will also address your medical history to determine other factors that may affect breast surgery, such as hormonal influences, history of weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and radiation injury. It would be helpful to have access to your charts and operative reports from your previous breast surgery, if available. Most women will need a current mammogram (within one year) in order to serve as a baseline for post-operative comparison. Dr. Levine will thoroughly discuss your goals and expectations, including possible risks and the best way to prepare for your surgery. He will let you know what to expect before, during, and after your procedure, and he will answer any questions that you may have.
What type of anesthesia will be used for revision breast surgery?
The type of anesthesia will vary according to the type of procedure needed to correct your specific condition. You will discuss your procedure thoroughly with both Dr. Levine and our board-certified anesthesiologist to determine the best type of anesthesia for your needs.
