Inverted Nipple Correction (Inverted Nipple Surgery)

Inverted Nipple Correction NYC

For many women, the nipples are a key component in overall breast aesthetics.  But sometimes, rather than projecting naturally outward, nipples may appear flat or drawn inward.  Inverted nipples are common and can pose cosmetic concerns for many women.  In most cases, inverted nipples are congenital (present since birth), although the condition may develop later in life as a result of other factors, such as breast injury, breast feeding, or breast disease.  If one or both of your nipples suddenly become inverted, you should see a breast specialist to rule out any underlying medical conditions.  In most cases, inverted nipples are caused by tight tissue or shortened breast ducts beneath the nipple, which tether the nipple inward.  Whether your nipples are inverted sometimes or all of the time, there is simple in-office procedure that can release nipples, allowing them to project beautifully and naturally.  Performed using local anesthetic, inverted nipple correction is fast and easy, taking less than 30 minutes for each breast.*  This simple procedure may be performed on one or both breasts to enhance the appearance of the nipples, as well as to improve symmetry between the nipples.  Dr. Levine uses a unique approach to correct nipple inversion, making two very tiny incisions to release tissue and allow the nipple to project in a natural and predictable manner.  In addition to allowing the nipples to evert, Dr. Levine’s approach also focuses on achieving symmetry between the nipples on both breasts, leading to beautiful, natural-looking, and well-balanced breasts.*

How is inverted nipple correction performed?

Dr. Levine uses a unique, minimally invasive approach to correct inverted nipples.   By making two very tiny incisions at the base of the nipple, he can release tissue that may be tethering the nipple inward.  Once released, the nipple will project naturally.*  Absorbable sutures are used at the base of the nipple to prevent inversion.   Dr. Levine will discuss with you the details of the procedure, address your specific concerns, and answer any questions that you may have.

Can inverted nipple correction be combined with other procedures?

Yes.  Inverted nipple correction can be combined with additional breast procedures, such breast augmentation, breast reduction, or breast lift in order to enhance the overall appearance of the breasts.   Some patients choose to combine inverted nipple correction with other cosmetic procedures, such as tummy tuck, facelift, and liposuction.  Dr. Levine will discuss with you what procedure or combination of procedures may best suit your specific needs.

How can I prepare for inverted nipple correction?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Levine will examine your nipples to determine the extent of the inversion.  He will also address your medical history to determine whether there could be underlying causes for your condition.  Dr. Levine will thoroughly discuss your goals and expectations, including possible risks and the best way to prepare for your surgery.  He will let you know what to expect before, during, and after your procedure, and he will answer any questions that you may have.
