Who is a good candidate for neck liposuction?
People with mild to moderate excess fat and skin in the neck area may be good candidates for neck liposuction. People who want to improve their jaw line definition and lower facial profile may also benefit from this procedure. Generally, people between the ages of 20 and 40 are usually the best candidates for neck liposuction because they have less skin laxity and better skin tightening capacity.* This procedure may also be a great option for patients 40 to 60 years of age, depending on the skin tone of the individual patient. When there is significant skin laxity present, a neck lift may be a better option. Dr. Levine can gladly meet with you to discuss whether you are a good candidate for neck liposuction.

Can neck liposuction be combined with other procedures?
Yes. Neck liposuction is often combined with other facial aesthetic and body contouring procedures, such as facelift, mini facelift, fat grafting, rhinoplasty, cheek augmentation, chin augmentation, and traditional liposuction. Dr. Levine will discuss with you what procedure or combination of procedures may best suit your specific needs.
How is neck liposuction performed?
Dr. Levine uses a combination of traditional liposuction and laser liposuction to tighten and shape the neck. Thin, hollow tubes called cannulas are introduced through tiny incisions in order to remove fat from layers beneath the skin. The SmartLipo™ laser may be used to destroy fat, which is then gently suctioned from the body. The heat from the laser will promote collagen remodeling and skin tightening in the months following the procedure.* Dr. Levine will discuss with you which techniques will best suit your specific needs.
How can I prepare for neck liposuction?
During your initial consultation, Dr. Levine will examine your neck in order to determine the amount and distribution of fat, as well as the quality of skin elasticity. He will thoroughly discuss your goals and expectations, including possible risks and the best way to prepare for your surgery. He will let you know what to expect before, during, and after your procedure, and he will answer any questions that you may have.
What type of anesthesia will be used?
We recommend local anesthesia for neck liposuction.
What should I expect during neck liposuction?
Neck liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis in our state-of-the-art, in-office operating suite, which is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).* The length of your procedure will depend on many factors, but on average, the procedure usually takes less than an hour. After your procedure, you will be taken to our warm and caring recovery suite, where our licensed, registered nurse will make sure you are comfortable and assist in your recovery. You will be able to go home the same day with a friend or family member.
What can I expect after neck liposuction?
Every surgery is different, and you will receive detailed post-operative instructions for your specific needs. In general, you may expect to have very mild bruising and swelling for 1 week after your procedure.* A compression garment should be worn during this time.
