Non-surgical Browlift
Non-Surgical BrowLift at Plastic Surgery & Dermatology of NYC
As we age, the skin gradually loses youthful fullness and elasticity. In the brow area, these aging-related changes can cause the skin to sag, allowing the brow to descend from its youthful position. Lax skin can cause wrinkles and lines in the forehead, while a lower brow can make you look older, or even tired and angry. For people with a mild amount of brow descent, particularly in the lateral aspects of the brow, a subtle, but effective browlift may be accomplished non-surgically by using strategically placed injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic or hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Restylane®, Juvéderm®, and Perlane®.
How is BOTOX® used for a non-surgical browlift?
The position of the eyebrows is partially determined by two opposing muscle groups: one that pulls the brows down and one that elevates the brows. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a natural, purified protein that can temporarily relax muscles by blocking nerve impulses. When BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into the muscles that pull the brows down, it alters the balance between the two muscle groups, allowing the muscles that elevate the brows to work unopposed. This can affect a subtle, natural-looking lift in the brows.*
How are dermal fillers used for a non-surgical browlift?
For certain patients with mild brow descent, a few strategically placed injections of dermal fillers can help restore volume, while seeming to lift the eyebrows back into their natural, youthful position. The procedure is fast and easy, with results that may last from 6 to 9 months.*
Who is a good candidate for a non-surgical browlift?
A non-surgical browlift may be appropriate for people who are just beginning to show signs of brow descent; who are looking for a slight, subtle lift; who are not ready for surgical intervention; or who are not candidates for surgery. For people exhibiting more significant brow sagging, an endoscopic browlift or other surgical browlift procedure may be indicated. Dr. Levine will gladly meet with you to assess your condition and determine which procedure or combination of procedures will best suit your needs.
How long will the results last from a non-surgical browlift?
While a non-surgical browlift cannot stop the aging process, it can provide outstanding results that may last for months. The results from BOTOX® injections typically last up to 4 months, while dermal filler treatment may last from 6 to 9 months.
How can I prepare for a non-surgical browlift?
During your initial consultation, Dr. Levine will thoroughly discuss your goals and expectations, including possible risks and the best way to prepare for your treatment. As much as possible, patients should avoid taking aspirin and ibuprofen-containing products (such as Advil and Motrin), St. John’s Wort, high doses of vitamin E supplements, and other blood thinners (unless medically necessary) for 1 week prior to treatment in order to minimize the risk of bruising. Patients should also avoid red wine and multivitamins for 2 days prior to treatment.
What should I expect during the non-surgical browlift procedure?
The non-surgical browlift procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in our offices. The procedure is simple, fast, and virtually painless. Dr. Levine will administer the BOTOX® or appropriate dermal filler through a series of tiny injections across the treatment area. Anesthesia is not required, although topical numbing cream or local injection blocks are offered when needed.
What should I expect after the non-surgical browlift procedure?
Mild bruising and swelling is possible, but usually not present, for a few days after treatment. There is no special post-treatment care necessary, though anti-bruising products are offered. In most cases, you may resume your normal activities within 24 hours following your procedure.*
